Trani's Castello Svevo, or Swabian Castle, is a medieval fortress that was built in the 13th century by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II. It is located on the waterfront and was originally designed to protect the city from attack. The castle has a rectangular shape with four towers at each corner and a large central courtyard.
